LANCASTER, CA - ARCpoint, an Antelope Valley-based drug-testing company, is offering free drug tests for new clients as part of National Drug-Free Work Week, the company announced Thursday.

ARCpoint will provide free instant drug tests as part of the U.S. Department of Labor-sponsored event. The annual campaign, now in its third year, is designed to educate employers, employees and the general public about the benefits of a drug-free work place.

"Drug testing is a tried-and-true way for businesses to cut costs and improve efficiency," said Doug Kimball, owner of ARCpoint' Lancaster franchise. "Employers with drug-free workplace policies reduce their thefts, workplace accidents and sick time while boosting productivity."

American businesses lose about $81 billion annually due to lost productivity from drug and alcohol abuse. Employed drug users are more likely to be involved in a workplace accident, file a workers' compensation claim, request early dismissal, have extended absences and be late for work.

"Drug-Free Work Week is a perfect time to remind employers and employees alike that reducing workplace alcohol and drug abuse is a crucial part of keeping workers safe," said Elena Carr, drug policy coordinator at the Labor Department. "Of course, in a safe and healthful workplace, every week should be Drug-Free Work Week."

The Hazelden Foundation, a national nonprofit organization that helps people reclaim their lives from the disease of addiction, found that while most human resources practitioners recognize substance abuse and addiction as among the most serious problems faced in today's workplace, few companies proactively address these issues with their employees.

New clients who mention the Drug-Free Work Week promotion will receive free instant drug tests, known as five-panel drug tests. ARCpoint-Lancaster is located at 43823 10th Street West, Lancaster. The phone number is 661-945-1011.
