Recently there has been extensive research on the use of saliva in drug testing and it has grown in popularity due to its “convenience factor” during the collection process.

Saliva has certain advantages and disadvantages when compared to the use of urine in testing for the presence of drugs.

Oral fluid based testing most closely mimics results found with blood and is preferable for detecting on-the-job drug use or in post-accident applications. However, time limitation of detectability should be considered when determining what methodology is best for the situation.
